SPORTS ICE SPA: SPORTS INJURY RECOVERY
Sports Injury Recovery
REFERENCE
The use of cold therapy in acute sports injuries as well as in the rehabilitation of injured athletes has become a generally accepted treatment method with Physiotherapists and other health practitioners.
Various cooling modalities are used to apply cold to an injured area, e.g. ice massage, ice packs, gel packs and vapo-coolants.
Clinical studies report that the use of Cryotherapy has a positive effect on pain reduction and on the recovery of various injuries.
Cold water immersion like that provided by a Cryotherapy Spa is proven to help reduce swelling and pain as well as increase the release of enzymes and hormones, including testosterone, which aid in the tissue healing process. The salts in the water are also proven to reduce pain and inflammation, aid quicker muscle recovery and prevent cramping or tightening of muscles.
